Why should I have my attic cleaned in the first place?
A clean attic means more than just a tidy area you can be proud of. The benefits stretch far beyond. Dirty attics present a health concern for all household members, and a particular risk for those who suffer from respiratory diseases or have a sensitive immune system. The polluted air present in your attic gets ventilated throughout your home and contaminates your household.
Can I repair my damaged insulation?
The most common causes of attic insulation damage are irreparable. Rodent infestation, wind damage, water damage, and other causes of damage should be dealt with insulation replacement. Once damaged, your insulation won’t function as it should and will cause a spike in your energy bills. Make sure you have your insulation replaced by a professional before the problem worsens.
How do I know if my attic is under-insulated?
It all depends on your R-value. Here in Houston we are placed within the Zone 2. Your R-value will vary with respect to the frame of your house and the insulation you’re using. To calculate your R-value (fiberglass insulation), measure the overall thickness and multiply it by 3. The resulting number is your R-value.
Where do you install a radiant barrier?
We place the radiant barrier underneath your roofing, most often we lay it onto the existing insulation. This is the area which is most exposed to sun rays. The radiant barrier can step in and block off any hot beams back to its source. The result is a more comfortable and cooler house during the spring and summer months.
What part of the HVAC system will your company clean?
Our technicians will thoroughly clean the supply and return grills, the HVAC system air handler, and the inside of the supply and return vents. If one of these three components is left dirty, the contaminants from that area will quickly spread throughout the ductwork and contaminate the other components, too.
How often should I have my air ducts cleaned?
We advise our clients to have their home’s air ducts thoroughly cleaned every 6 to 8 years. However, if any of the household members have respiratory issues or a sensitive immune system, we recommend cleaning the ductwork more often. Same goes for homeowners with pets or young children.
